Season 1 wrap-up of Love Zero Waste with Evelina and Malin

Love Zero Waste Podcast - Evelina Lundqvist and Malin Leth.JPG

That’s a wrap on season one of the Love Zero Waste podcast!

Recently Malin Leth of Circulous and I met up in Malmö, Sweden to discuss and share our impressions and learnings from making the first Love Zero Waste podcast season and summarise the three key factors that are most important for creating a zero waste society. However, we weren't sure of…. the last factor? What would you add to the list?

Moreover, I shared my feeling of a stomach ache due to the vastness of the waste problem and Malin tried to grasp the enormous amount of trash that we humans generate every year. Finding the best equivalent for two billion tonnes of waste is not easy though. After calculating soccer fields and blue whales, she ended up with the classic example of ship containers. But does that make it easier to understand?

Either way, a systematic shift is needed. This is our contribution to making that happen.

Throughout season one, Malin and I met with scientists, activists, entrepreneurs, policymakers and other change agents to learn more about their insights in five episodes:

  1. Waste Management for Dummies with Anna-Carin Gripwall of Avfallsverige and Jochen Pach of Holding Graz

  2. The Game Changer (this is Zero Waste) with Elin Bergman of WWF and Paul Ekins of UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources

  3. Leading change (at the intersection of waste management and zero waste) with Libby Peake of Green Alliance UK and Rustan Nilsson of Sysav

  4. A-year-of-a-trash-in-a-jar and the packaging free grocery store with Carlyn Grebleski of Less waste world and Sarah Reindl of Das Gramm

  5. From fast fashion to accountability with Alexandra Poetz of The Good Tribe, Anna Lidström of Another Studio and Birgitta Helmersson of Helgrose Studio

Thank you to everyone who worked with us on this season. Special thanks to Merlinn Sound that made our jingle and Umami Produktion for the mixing.

Thank you so much for listening! We loved making this for you!

We’re releasing season two of Love Zero Waste later this spring.

Until then, keep moving towards Zero Waste!
